Cape Town shines as Africa’s creative capital at FAME Week Africa 2025

Cape Town has once again proved why it stands tall as Africa’s creative capital following a hugely successful FAME Week Africa 2025, hosted at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) from 1 to 3 September 2025. For three days, our city became the heartbeat of global creativity, welcoming leaders, innovators, and storytellers from across Africa and the world.

More than a festival, FAME Week Africa is a powerful platform where creativity meets opportunity. Through a dynamic mix of content sessions, film screenings, live music, curated exhibitions, fashion showcases, and networking opportunities, the event connected local and international creatives with investors, partners, and audiences. Deals were made, collaborations were born, and Cape Town’s role as a gateway to Africa’s creative economy was reinforced.

Film Cape Town – Making the Creative Sector Work

None of this momentum would be possible without the tireless work of Film Cape Town, a unit of the City of Cape Town. From securing partnerships to streamlining film permits and cutting red tape, Film Cape Town ensures that production companies can thrive here. Their efforts continue to attract global productions to our shores, while nurturing local talent and driving growth in one of the Western Cape’s fastest-growing industries.

The success of FAME Week Africa is a reflection of this commitment. With Film Cape Town’s support, our city has become a destination of choice for commercials, films, television, and creative content production. Cape Town isn’t just a hub for tourism – it’s a powerhouse for storytelling and innovation.

A Global Stage for African Stories

This year’s FAME Week brought together a vibrant mix of co-related shows, including MIP Africa, Muziki Africa, the African Fashion Forum, and the FAME Shorts Film Festival. Together, these platforms celebrated the convergence of film, television, animation, music, fashion, and technology, creating an ecosystem where ideas spark into action.

Highlights included the African Women in Entertainment Breakfast, hosted by Ray Content Hub at the Mount Nelson. Acclaimed actress and advocate Edwina Findley inspired attendees with her insights on the power of African talent on the global stage – a message that resonated deeply with both local and international audiences.

Invest Cape Town – Proud to Be Part of the Journey

As Invest Cape Town, we were proud to attend and witness firsthand the energy, collaboration, and ambition that defined the week. Our city is alive with creativity and opportunity, and we remain committed to supporting initiatives that make Cape Town the best place to do business in Africa’s creative sector.

FAME Week Africa 2025 has shown the world that Cape Town is more than just a beautiful backdrop-it is a global hub for creativity, collaboration, and economic growth. With Film Cape Town leading the way, the future of Africa’s creative economy has never looked brighter.
