Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) are widely recognised as a crucial driving force for social and economic stability in South Africa and play a significant role in creating <\/span>small business success stories.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Recognising their importance for social and economic stability, policymakers have increasingly focused on supporting SMMEs. A prime example of this is the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) initiative, particularly its focus on enterprise and supplier development. In the last three and a half years, the City\u2019s funding partnerships with high-growth industry organisations facilitated R25.4 billion in investments, creating 32,300 jobs in Cape Town. In the City’s new ‘Building for Jobs’ Budget 2024\/25, over R64 million is proposed to support partner organisations driving skills and job creation in high-growth industries, including call centres, tourism, manufacturing, the green economy, and more.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
