Build your business with City’s free enterprise development services
The City of Cape Town’s Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth, Alderman James Vos, is encouraging entrepreneurs to take advantage of a comprehensive calendar of free enterprise development services offered through the City’s Business Hub. Read more below:
Four webinars will be held between Monday, 26 and Thursday, 29 January focused on tender readiness, financial management, and business improvement strategies. February training sessions include themes of marketing, contract management, and an in-person supplier networking session at the Business Hub centre in the CBD.
‘Our Business Hub team works carefully to curate a schedule of workshops that respond directly to the growth requirements of entrepreneurs. I am always looking for new ways of working and improving how we support businesses, which is why these programmes focus on equipping entrepreneurs with the practical tools of the trade they need to compete, grow, and succeed.
‘In the last six months alone, approximately 1 300 small business leaders received training through this platform in programmes relating to doing business with the City and improving bid competitiveness. This year, we will continue to bring these support services to Cape Town’s enterprises that employ thousands of people and play a vital role in driving our economy,’ said Alderman Vos.
Several popular courses are also returning in 2026, including the Smart Supplier and Productivity Efficiency Programmes.
Yashveer Mohan, a business owner who participated in last year’s Smart Supplier programme, highly recommended the course to others looking to elevate their expertise in procurement and professional communication.
‘The masterclasses were instrumental in enhancing my skills. I’ve gained practical, hands-on experience that has significantly improved my strategic thinking and ability to present compelling business cases,’ said Mohan, a director at Aarya Enterprises, an office supplies enterprise.
The feedback was echoed by Elizabeth Mnyandu of tech business, Saniphet Consulting.
‘It was a unique journey and I learned new things that I will definitely implement in my workplace,’ said Mnyandu.
‘Supporting businesses with access to the right skills and networks is essential to their development ambitions, and this City government recognises that. By doing so, we help to build a vibrant and resilient economy in Cape Town,’ said Alderman Vos.
