Cape Town SMMEs take care of business
Business owners from 35 Cape Town-based companies are gathering this week for the City’s High Impact Supplier Development Programme. The aim is to equip them to become suppliers of choice within their industries to help grow their businesses. Read more below:
The five-day workshop is administered by The Business Associate and funded by the City. It is designed to develop small businesses into becoming suppliers of choice within their industries.
The course covers supply chain integration, customer and market positioning, financial growth, operational and supply chain alignment and performance management.
Participating businesses were selected via the City’s Business Hub and following a thorough vetting process. The SMMEs are also vendors on the City’s database.
‘Research has found that small, medium-sized and microenterprises (SMMEs) in South Africa contribute about 35% to the country’s yearly GDP, while absorbing around 50% of all formal employment. The High Impact Programme has proven to be a valuable resource that gives businesses the knowledge and networking skills to grow and attract clients,’ said Alderman James Vos, the Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth.
