With a passion for purpose and impact, serial entrepreneur and social innovator Jamie Wyngaard is making his mark across multiple sectors enabling financial inclusion and access to education. As co-founder and Chief Experience Officer of the celebrated mobility-tech platform Loop, and the mind behind a suite of ventures advancing the entrepreneurial ecosystem and sustainable transformation, he stands at the forefront of Africa’s fintech revolution.
Jamie’s impact hasn’t gone unnoticed. In 2025, he was honoured at the Global Forty Under 40 Awards in Dubai for his leadership and innovation, while Loop was named Best Mobility & Logistics Start-Up in Southern Africa at the Global Startup Awards, cementing his role as one of Cape Town’s most dynamic young innovators.
His work is fuelled by creativity and complexity as he shapes practical and scalable solutions to real-world challenges. As part of Loop, Jamie has been pioneering contactless payments via WhatsApp for the minibus taxi industry, a move that’s transforming one of South Africa’s most essential yet informal sectors. This idea is already taking hold across borders: “We built it for Cape Town’s realities, but we’re already seeing interest from cities like Dubai. That’s the beauty of investing in Cape Town, the solutions born here have global potential,” he explains.
Beyond his own ventures, Jamie is deeply invested in growing Cape Town’s innovation and entrepreneurship economy and community. He co-founded Social Hack, a collective geared towards helping local businesses develop the strategies, branding and compliance needed to scale sustainably. “Our role is to plug in the missing networks and skills so that small businesses can actually grow,” he says. His other co-founded project Feenix.org, a crowdfunding platform launched in collaboration with Standard Bank, has already raised over R260 million to help South African students pay university fees to address the financial barriers that hold so many back from completing their studies and participating meaningfully in the economy.
It is no surprise that he is determined to position Cape Town as a global player. “I always say Africa’s problem isn’t talent, it’s marketing. The world needs to see what’s happening here. Cape Town isn’t just a beautiful city; it’s a hub of possibility. It’s a melting pot of different cultures and ideas, a place where innovation thrives precisely because of our diversity.”
Over the next three years, he hopes to champion inclusive entrepreneurship, ensuring that young innovators and small businesses have access to the networks and resources they need to thrive. By bridging local creativity and international investment, he aims to help reshape global perceptions of Africa’s potential, one scalable solution at a time.
His ideas for Cape Town as a business hub with a community of people brimming with potential has a distinctly human touch. “We’ve got the talent, potential, heart and hope. When we start believing in that, we can transform not just Cape Town but the world,” he adds.
